Leclerc relieved with Ferrari: 'I didn't expect this'

Charles Leclerc is the favourite to win next weekend's Grand Prix in Imola. However, the Monegasque knows that there is no room for underestimation, he told the Italian program TG1.
The Italian racing team made a good impression from the opening race in Bahrain. Leclerc in particular is in excellent form. In the first three GPs he managed to take victory twice and second position once, which puts him way up there in the world championship and keeps Max Verstappen behind him for now.
"I didn't expect us to start the season so strong," Leclerc states honestly in the interview. Despite his good performance, the Ferrari driver notices that he can still walk the streets anonymously. He experienced one such situation in Australia when he got into a cab. "The taxi driver said Ferrari didn't look bad this year and I could only nod."
Sainz stays longer at Ferrari
Just Thursday morning Ferrari made it public that the Italians are extending Sainz's contract until the end of 2024. With this, Ferrari is showing its confidence in the Spaniard. For now, the Madrian born is 38 points behind his teammate.
