Ferrari have made an excellent impression during the first three Grands Prix of the new season. For the time being, the Italian racing team is therefore the favourite to win the world championship, although Felipe Massa believes that this is happening too fast.
Charles Leclerc has achieved first place twice and second place once so far this season, and this puts him far at the top of the world championship. His lead in the championship is 34 points over George Russell, which means he is considered the clear favourite already. According to Massa, however, it is far from decided.
"We have to stay calm, because it is still difficult to take stock of what are the forces at play," states the former Formula 1 driver in conversation with the Italian La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm certainly not saying that Ferrari holds the 2022 World Championship."
Massa expects strong Ferrari in the coming weeks
He is quite impressed with the performance of Ferrari. Massa expects that the team will be the favourite to win in Italy, Spain and Monaco. However, the Brazilian also knows that there are still plenty of races to come this season.
