Hamilton puts Mercedes on edge: 'We need it now'
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton has had a difficult opening to the season. Where he hoped to fight for the world title again, he had to settle for a place in the sub top. However, the driver hopes to change that soon.
The British driver had consistently been the major title contender in Formula 1 since 2014. Only in 2016 and 2021, when Nico Rosberg and Max Verstappen ran away with victory respectively, did Hamilton fail to stand with the top prize at the end of the season.
This season, however, the situation is completely different. Partly due to the new regulations, Mercedes currently lacks the connection with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing, so the German racing team simply lacks speed to compete at the front. As a result, Toto Wolff's team must hope every race that there are drivers who drop out in front.
Hamilton is hard on Mercedes
However, Hamilton has a lot of faith in his team and knows that Mercedes is capable of fighting back. According to the seven-time world champion, there are ideas within the team to improve the car quickly. He therefore demands from the team that this will happen soon. "We need it now, not in two or three races," he revealed in an interview with Formule1.nl.
