Charles Leclerc was able to add 26 points in the battle for the world championship among the drivers. Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz, on the other hand, lose a lot of points and sink further down. Mercedes is doing good business despite their deficit.

Verstappen slips further away

Due to his slip-up, Verstappen was unable to take home the points from P2, meaning the Dutchman is now only in sixth place in the championship with 25 points. The Red Bull driver is now 46 points behind Leclerc.

Carlos Sainz also crashed out at the Australian Grand Prix, but the Spaniard still retains P3 in the championship standings for now. Sergio Perez is now in fourth place with thirty points.

Mercedes, on the other hand, is doing good business. George Russell managed to get his first podium at Mercedes and therefore jumps to second place. Lewis Hamilton just missed the podium, but the Briton is now ahead of Verstappen in the championship.
