'Unmotivated' Vettel at Aston Martin: 'Hardly getting points with it'
- GPblog.com
Sebastian Vettel returns to Aston Martin for the Australian Grand Prix after a Covid infection kept him sidelined during the first two races. However, according to Helmut Marko, the German's motivation is far from satisfied.
Switch to Aston Martin
For Vettel, it must be annoying to see that his old team is really on top now. The German already came close to a world title fight with Ferrari in 2017 and 2018, but more than a year after his departure, the team seems to have really built a championship-calibre car. Vettel himself is stuck at Aston Martin with a car that is not even close to scoring points.
Lawrence Stroll 's promises were big when he took over Force India, but since then little has come of those words. Vettel brought in a four-time world champion, but the team itself is falling further and further down the rankings. From fourth place the team has now dropped to ninth place with zero points.
No motivation for Vettel
According to Marko, this does not ensure that Vettel is still very motivated. The Austrian previously stated that Vettel should have taken a year off rather than switch to Aston Martin, and now that the British team is not performing the Red Bull chief seems to be right.
Marko let it be known at Formel1.de that he still sees a motivated Vettel fighting for podiums in F1 with a car that is capable of doing so. For example, he points to the podium Vettel achieved in Baku in 2021. However, with the AMR22 designed by Aston Martin, Marko does not feel that Vettel will be very motivated as there are hardly any points to be gained with that car.
