Helmut Marko is particularly happy that in 2022 Ferrari is the big rival and not Mercedes. Of the hatred and envy that existed between Mercedes and Red Bull Racing, there is no question between Ferrari and Red Bull (for now).

In 2021, it was not only exciting on the track, but also off it. Where Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen fought for victory on the track, Christian Horner, Helmut Marko and Toto Wolff attacked each other behind the scenes and in front of the cameras. There is much less of that tension between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing.

Good relationship with Ferrari

At ServusTV 's Sport und Talk program, Marko therefore states that he is happy that Red Bull's opponent this year is Ferrari. According to the Austrian, there is a completely different atmosphere, mainly because Ferrari would be just like Red Bull. Whereas Mercedes is more of the diplomatic approach, Ferrari is also (like Red Bull) about passion, emotion, sportsmanship and respect, Marko argues.

''We have a competitive relationship, but with sporting rules. You notice that with the drivers, but also with the technical management or designers. You can exchange ideas with Ferrari and that makes it fun'', concludes the Red Bull Racing top executive.
