Formula One drivers want more input when it comes to the new locations of Formula One races. The Formula One circus was rocked in Saudi Arabia by a missile attack just eleven kilometres from the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, leading to long discussions about whether Sunday's Grand Prix should go ahead.

Drivers can be more vocal

Sky Sports reported this on Tuesday. According to the medium, the drivers want more input when it comes to strategic discussions. Sky also announces that this will happen and that the drivers will have some meetings with the bosses of Formula 1 in the coming weeks.

Drivers have long wanted more input on where to drive and where not to drive, but events in Saudi Arabia have accelerated this process. After the missile attack on an Aramco facility near the circuit, the drivers sat together for a long time to discuss whether it was right to race in Saudi Arabia. After long deliberation, the drivers, in consultation with their team bosses and the top F1 officials, chose to continue with the race weekend.

Drivers have more prominence

According to Sky, the reason drivers want more input is because they are much more the face of the sport than they were a few years ago. This is partly due to social media and the Netflix series Drive to Survive.
