The Saudi Arabia Grand Prix will definitely go ahead. This has been agreed by the FIA with the various Formula One teams, drivers and the Saudi authorities. Despite the missile attack on Friday and the growing threat, the situation was deemed safe enough to race.
Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia goes ahead
At 22:00 local time, stakeholders met to discuss the current situation. The outcome was that the race weekend can go ahead as planned, while the Saudi authorities are trying to ensure safety around the circuit.
Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali says he is assured that the local authorities are doing everything they can to keep everyone safe on and around the circuit. "They have assured us that safety comes first, no matter what," he explained to Viaplay and others.
"We have to trust the local authorities on that," he continued. "That's why we have decided that of course we will continue with the event," Domenicali said.
