Based on the winter tests, Ferrari along with Red Bull Racing were among the big favorites, but it remained to be seen if that would translate into a strong opening weekend. After qualifying in Bahrain, it appears that this is indeed the case. As for Mika Hakkinen, Max Verstappen could have used some more help from Sergio Perez.

"Ferrari did fantastic work," said Hakkinen in conversation with David Coulthard at Viaplay. The Finn sees Ferrari equipped with two very fast drivers, but thinks Perez could still use some gas.

"I have a feeling Max didn't get too much help from Perez," continued the two-time World Champion. "I think Red Bull have a great car, but only one car going flat out. Perez is not helping."

According to Hakkinen, Ferrari has been very consistent in the winter tests and he expects them to be too fast for the Dutchman in the race as well. "Then we can agree to disagree," Coulthard interrupted his former teammate. "I still think Max is going to do it." The former McLaren drivers do agree on one thing: they are looking forward to Sunday's race with great anticipation.
