Lando Norris has not been a rookie in Formula 1 for a while. He will be at the start of already his fourth season in the sport in 2022. The Briton lets it be known that he is looking forward to seeing what Colton Herta and Oscar Piastri can do in a Formula One car.

Herta test driver at McLaren

Herta recently signed a contract with McLaren allowing him to test for the British team in Formula 1. Currently, the American drives in the IndyCar for Andretti Autosport, but he himself says he has been interested in racing in Formula 1 for some time.

Not only is he interested in what he could do in a Formula One car, Norris would also like to see it. Norris and Herta were teammates for a while in the junior categories, and the Brit says he knows Herta pretty well. "I’m excited to see what they can do," he tells RACER.com.

Bad timing for Piastri

In addition to former teammate Herta, Norris is also curious about the skills of Alpine protégé Piastri. Alpine announced on Saturday that the team is willing to loan the Australian to McLaren when Daniel Ricciardo has not yet recovered from the corona virus.

Piastri became champion in Formula 2 last season, but he failed to secure a seat in Formula 1. According to Norris, the Aussie was just unlucky: "When someone deserves it they should be in Formula 1, they can just get unlucky with timing and everything like that," he concludes.
