According to Spanish AS Formula 1 has found a replacement for the cancelled Russian Grand Prix. The race will be replaced by Qatar, which also acted as an alternate on the calendar in 2021. In 2023, a third race will be added in the United States.

The 2022 Russian Grand Prix will not take place due to the invasion of Ukraine. As a result, Formula 1 had to look for a replacement and, according to AS, F1 will head to Qatar. Like last season, this year's race will be held at the Losail International Circuit. Qatar still has a contract running until 2030, but it is likely that the Qatar GP will be held on a street circuit in Doha from 2023.

Las Vegas Grand Prix

The announcement of the race in Qatar in 2022 is not the only announcement we can expect in the coming weeks according to the Spanish medium. Behind the scenes, Formula 1 is working on setting up the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Yesterday, a report came out that this GP will be announced soon and according to AS, this race should already be added to the calendar in 2023.

Americanization of Formula 1

The American market is important for Formula 1 and Liberty Media. In 2021, some 400,000 fans traveled to Austin to attend the United States Grand Prix. The new Miami Grand Prix scheduled for May 8 is already sold out.

The third race in the United States could become important for F1. The circus is now two Grands Prix rich in the country and currently has one team with Haas F1. Andretti Global hopes to become the second American team from 2024, while American IndyCar talent Colton Herta is likely to make his first meters in an F1 car for McLaren this year.
