The word is out, Kevin Magnussen will return to Formula 1 after a year's absence. The Dane, who opted for an American adventure in 2021, will take over the seat of Nikita Mazepin at Haas this season. With this, Magnussen returns to the team he was a part of since 2017.

Magnussen left Formula 1 at the end of 2020. Haas chose to completely renew their line-up with the arrival of Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin.

Multi-year contract Magnussen

The Danish driver has signed a multi-year deal with the team. Magnussen focused on American racing in 2021 and signed for a return to the Le Mans 24 Hours. However, he has now been given the surprising opportunity to return to F1.

Mazepin was sacked by Haas last Saturday due to the war in Ukraine. Pietro Fittipaldi will still be in action for Haas on Thursday afternoon during testing in Bahrain, but Magnussen will take over the wheel from him afterwards.
