'That Masi was sacrificed, I think that is really outrageous'

It has now been two weeks since the FIA announced the replacement of Michael Masi as race director. During the broadcast of Race Cafe on Ziggo Sport, Jack Plooij states that it is a disgrace to the sport.
Masi will be replaced by two new race directors who will rotate the role next season. The FIA is confident that the sport is in good hands with the experienced Eduardo Freitas and Niels Wittich.
That the Australian has to leave after the events in Abu Dhabi, where Max Verstappen managed to win the world title from Lewis Hamilton on the last lap, Plooij thinks is not acceptable.
'Departure of Masi wrong for the sport'
"That that man was sacrificed, I think that is really outrageous. That is not good for the sport. That's why there is very little talk about it. We talk about it as fans, but it's not talked about a lot by the sport itself," the Dutchman said during the broadcast.
In the final laps of the race, a safety car came due to Nicholas Latifi's crash, forcing Masi to make quick decisions. The result caused controversy for months after the race. "He really showed a Formula One heart and is being judged harshly for it. That's so wrong for the sport."
