Leclerc purposeful: "We may fight each other"
- GPblog.com
Ferrari wants to compete for victories in Formula 1 in 2022. It is Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz who must ensure this at the Scuderia. According to the Monegasque, the two are free to fight each other, should it come to that.
Ferrari is on a resurgence. After a lousy 2020, things were already much better in 2021. It managed to finish third in the constructors' standings and scored a total of five podiums. In 2022, it needs to add to that, as it needs to bring back winner's trophies to Maranello.
Team above all
Despite the Scuderia's desire to fight for victories again in 2022, the drivers may also attack each other during the races. "Of course we’ve discussed it," Leclerc is quoted by Metro. "Yes, we are free to fight, obviously without taking any stupid risks because we are fighting for the team." The Monegasque stresses that the ultimate goal is to bring Ferrari back to the top.
Team boss Mattia Binotto says he agrees with his pupil's words. The Italian was happy to see Sainz and Leclerc in a discussion, as both demonstrated maturity.
Testing in Barcelona
Ferrari could already be seen on track a day before the official Barcelona test to prepare for the first day of testing. The Italian team has not yet revealed when exactly Leclerc and Sainz will be seen during the test days.
