Formula 1 takes place at COTA for five more years
- GPblog.com
Formula 1 will continue to travel to Austin for the next five years to run the United States Grand Prix. Chris Medland let us know this on social media Friday afternoon.
Bobby Epstein states that the event has grown over the years to become the largest in the world. Formula One races have been held at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) since 2012. Back then, it was Lewis Hamilton who was the first race winner, then in a McLaren. In total, he won a GP at the circuit no less than five times.
Only four times was another driver the better of the weekend. In 2013, Sebastian Vettel managed to take the win, followed by Kimi Raikkonen in 2018 and Valtteri Bottas in 2019. A year later, no race took place due to the corona crisis. Last season, Max Verstappen managed to take the win, taking another step towards the world title.
Good news for F1 fans in the United States: The USGP is staying at @COTA for another five years.
