Mercedes continues fight: 'Our colours are now black and silver'

Mercedes has unveiled the new Mercedes-AMG F1 W13 E Performance and what immediately stands out is the silver colour. The silver colour has replaced the all black colour scheme that the team used for two years.
In 2020, Mercedes made a clear gesture by having the entire car in a black livery. This was mainly to support the Black Lives Matter movement. In addition, Mercedes also made an effort with Accelerate 25 to create more diversity within the sport.
Black and silver for Mercedes
''"The black livery was a clear intent and a clear demonstration of our mission to become a more diverse and inclusive team. It has become part of our DNA, but the silver colour of the Silver Arrows is as much our DNA, it's our history. As a team we have grown from the Silver Arrows to slowly becoming a more diverse and inclusive team and therefore our colours going forward will be silver and black," Toto Wolff said in Mercedes' press release.
So although the car will not be all-black again, Mercedes continues to push for diversity in the sport. Mercedes' Accelerate 25 program has the goal of having at least 25 percent of its employees be from a minority group. In 2021, this goal was already met with 38 percent.
