It's no surprise that the upcoming season is going to be an exciting one for the teams, due to the new rules. But according to Lando Norris, it will also be a challenge for the drivers, who have to deal with all the changes.

Last year the rules were already supposed to be changed significantly, but due to corona the new regulations will start in 2022. This means that Formula 1 cars will be fundamentally different, which will hopefully allow drivers to drive closer to each other and therefore make for spectacular battles.

These changes mean that everything will be different, from the beginning of the season to the end. "The preparation for this season is very different. The last three or four years everything has been mostly the same. This year will really be a development race. You start with a basic car and every week, every day almost, there will be developments and parts added to the car," Lando Norris told an official interview from McLaren during the unveiling of the new car.

It also means that the new season will be quite challenging for the drivers. Each race weekend the car can feel different and so the free practice sessions will have to be used very effectively. "It's a challenge for the team, the engineers and also for the drivers, with a completely new car."

Norris' first win in 2022?

For Lando Norris, 2021 was an excellent year, with no less than four podium finishes and even his first victory in sight before heartbreak in Russia. Unfortunately, rain in Sochi threw a spanner in the works. For 2022, the young driver has set the bar even higher, although it remains to be seen how competitive McLaren's car will be this year. Every year the team manages to get a little closer to the top and with the new regulations it could possibly be a big jump. Or a big step backwards.
