The Bahrain Grand Prix will remain on the Formula One calendar through 2036. The Middle Eastern race has signed a long-term agreement with Formula One.

Formula 1 aims to build a bigger calendar and in order to achieve that goal, deals are made with new venues, but also with existing ones. Circuits where racing is successful can count on a longer contract and that is now the case for Bahrain, which has signed a new contract until 2036.

F1 to Bahrain until 2036

''I am delighted we will be racing at the Bahrain International Circuit until 2036 where more incredible racing and excitement will be on show to thrill our fans. Since 2004 we have had some fantastic races in Sakhir and we cannot wait to be back there for the start of the 2022 championship as we begin a new era for the sport," Stefano Domenicali revealed in the press release.

''Bahrain was the first country in the Middle East to welcome Formula 1 and it has a very special place in our sport,'' Domenicali concluded. Bahrain debuted in Formula 1 in 2004 and has been on the F1 calendar every year since then, with the exception of 2011. In 2020 it even hosted two races, including the Sakhir Grand Prix.
