Vettel hopes for better times for his protégé Schumacher
- GPblog.com
During the Race of Champions last weekend in Sweden, Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher were teammates at Team Germany. As is often the case that both Germans are near each other. Vettel never wants to call it a mentorship, but the fact is that he is always there for his young compatriot.
Barely in a fight
On the track, Vettel and Schumacher did not encounter each other much last season. The Haas in which Schumacher drove was the slowest car in the field by far. With it, the rookie in Formula 1 could hardly fight battles with other teams. All hopes are on 2022 when Haas hopes to have moved up to the middle of the pack thanks to the new regulations.
Vettel told during the presentation of Aston Martin, according to Speedweek, that he hopes and wishes that he and Schumacher are closer in terms of performance. The four-time world champion would like to see them fight with each other further up the grid. That Schumacher has the qualities for that, Vettel is convinced about it.
Good performance
Vettel says it was undoubtedly difficult for Schumacher to perform last season. The veteran has never had such a bad car, he says. Vettel expresses hope that the Haas team has things better in hand now. If this is the case, Vettel expects a Schumacher who will show good performances.
