The W Series has a new team. None other than former race car driver and Olympic champion Caitlyn Jenner is starting her own "Jenner Racing. Before she made the news public, she spoke with Lewis Hamilton about the women's racing championship.

Jenner with own team in W Series

On February 8, the W Series announced on its own YouTube channel announced that Jenner Racing will be on the grid in the class starting in 2022. It is the first team to make its announcement for entry.

In an interview with Sky Sports F1 Team Owner Jenner talks about a conversation she had with Hamilton. The seven-time champion is an acquaintance of the media personality and she says Hamilton was positive about the idea of having her own W Series team. "He was very positive, loved the idea," she says.

Hamilton reflected on his first title

In addition, Jenner thanked Hamilton for a very exciting Formula One season. Last year, the championship remained exciting until the last lap, but Hamilton still had to acknowledge his superiority to Max Verstappen. The Dutchman won the title with an overtaking move on the very last lap of the season.

For Jenner this was a special moment and so she asked Hamilton if he had ever won a title on the last lap. Of course, that immediately reminded Mercedes driver of 2008, when he took the title from Felipe Massa in the last corner of the season.
