Christian Horner bid on a tour of the Mercedes factory in Brackley on Sunday night during the Autosport Awards. The Dutch branch of Motorsport.com now reports that the team boss actually won the auction.

Several photos appeared on social media showing Horner bidding £3,000 and £4,000 for a tour of his rival's factory. Bids could be placed on various items from Formula 1 teams, including Mercedes'. Horner thought it would be a good idea to bid on the tour and see what the Mercedes factory is like. Red Bull will do everything in its power to beat the team in 2022, this time in the constructors' championship as well.

Successful evening

So it looks like the team boss will be visiting Mercedes soon, as he won the auction. With that, the evening was more than successful for Red Bull, as the team also snagged the award for best international car of the year with the RB16B. Max Verstappen was named the best international driver of the year.

The money raised goes to the Grand Prix Trust foundation, a body that helps people in the sport who are unable to work due to serious illness. So Horner is not only helping his own team by gaining insight into his competitor's factory, but also by donating money to the foundation.
