Antonio Giovinazzi made his Formula E debut last weekend. The former Formula One driver is enjoying the new opportunity, but wants to return to Formula One as soon as possible.

The first two races at Dragon Penske are over. The Italian made his debut in the electric championship last weekend, finishing both races in 20th place. Giovinazzi admits that he still has a lot to learn, yet he is enjoying this new challenge. It is a competitive championship in which not always the same drivers and teams win. Moreover, the atmosphere is entirely different: "The first feeling in the paddock is that it is a bit more relaxed than Formula 1," he tells La Gazetta dello Sport.

Back on the Formula 1 grid in 2023

The former Alfa Romeo driver will need time to adapt to these cars and the new championship. Above all, he wants to learn a lot from this adventure, but ideally he will return to the Formula 1 grid as soon as possible. "It's the main objective for 2023. I don't feel like I gave everything in that championship."

The 28-year-old driver hopes that he can do what Alexander Albon, Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon have already done, which is getting a seat at a team again despite a break from the sport. Several contracts expire in 2022, so maybe we'll see Giovinazzi again.
