Sergio Perez lived up to Red Bull Racing's expectations in 2021 and was the perfect teammate for Max Verstappen, as the final race in Abu Dhabi particularly showed. The Mexican is therefore speaking confidently about the upcoming season.

Perez, like his predecessors, struggled to adapt to the Red Bull Racing car. By looking good at a number of crucial moments, he was able to help Verstappen secure his first world title. He also achieved five podium finishes, including one win in Baku. He finished the season in fourth place.

Perez has full confidence in 2022

The steep learning curve he showed garnered high praise from his bosses Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. Perez himself declares that Red Bull Racing pushed him to the limit, making the most of it. He says this in conversation with Speedweek.com.

"The engineers, mechanics and team bosses also have to give everything," says the Mexican. "Everyone works tirelessly to achieve the perfect result. This has been an amazing experience that has taken me to a whole new level as a driver," he adds.

Perez therefore speaks confidently about the upcoming season. "We already have a good base on which to build and improve. That's a big difference from last year," explains the Red Bull driver. "I know all the team members and I know who to ask what and how to get the best out of everyone. It's a totally different situation," Perez said.
