The long awaited Dutch Grand Prix in 2021 was a great success. The race weekend was even named weekend of the year by British media Sky Sports, and not without reason. There was nothing but positive energy surrounding the home race of Max Verstappen, which he also managed to win.

That positive energy was felt by everyone. Even Lewis Hamilton, who did not exactly come to the circuit as a crowd favourite, arrived dressed completely in orange and praised Verstappen's 'orange army'.

Honda impressed by Verstappen fans

"The Dutch fans were fantastic", Yamamoto begins in an interview with the Japanese Autosportweb. "In the six years I've been involved with Honda F1, I've never seen such a great turnout as at the Dutch Grand Prix. It was like being in a football stadium."

Verstappen not only secured pole position on Saturday, but also managed to cash in on a victory on Sunday, making the party in Zandvoort complete. "When Max crossed the finish line first, the whole circuit coloured orange," continued the Honda chief. In addition, the praise for Honda was particularly high, which added to the revelry according to Yamamoto.
