At 34, Sebastian Vettel belongs to the old guard of Formula 1. Since entering the sport as a youngster for Toro Rosso, Vettel has established himself as one of the best drivers of his generation. The German is not only concerned about racing these days, however, but also about matters outside the world of Formula 1. Vettel has already been a spokesperson for the LGBTQ community, and also frequently speaks out about environmental issues.

Politician

A leading sportsman and four-time world champion is listened to, so what Vettel has to say resonates with people. It is not difficult to imagine that after his career in F1 he would become a politician, or perhaps a spokesman for a good cause. Yet that is not obvious, says Vettel in an interview with The Race. He says he is not a fan of the media, and as a politician you need the media.

At the end of his time at Ferrari there were rumours that Vettel might retire from Formula 1. In the end he opted for a new adventure with Aston Martin, with which the German spent most of last season in the middle of the pack. Vettel does think about what life will bring him once his career in Formula 1 is over. But what it will be, he doesn't know at this stage. "I can easily develop a new passion," Vettel says.

In Formula 1?

Maybe it will be another position in the Formula 1 paddock. According to Vettel, the easy route would be choosing a role as an analyst, but he doesn't see himself doing that. "But I love the sport and don't want to turn my back on it and say 'never again'."
