Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko joined the Austrian Servus TV. The Dutchman was asked when there will be more information about his new contract and they also talked about Mercedes.

Verstappen has become world champion for the first time and managed to do so after showing a lot of patience at Red Bull Racing. The Austrian team didn't immediately have the best car on the grid, but finally managed to compete with Mercedes in 2021. Verstappen's patience was rewarded.

Verstappen longer at Red Bull

After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the Dutchman already expressed his wish to drive for Red Bull for another ten to fifteen years and reiterates that wish with the Austrian broadcaster. According to Marko the talks are already in progress, but he laughingly says that 'the words of Max have not yet reached his management'. Verstappen bursts out laughing, probably also knowing that Raymond Vermeulen will make high demands for a new contract.

In the programme, Verstappen is also asked about an earlier remark. According to the interviewer, Verstappen said that he would not get into a Mercedes, but would rather call a taxi. Verstappen has to laugh, but denies the story: ''I did not say that, no, no, no.''
