Verstappen deserved to win: 'He deserved to win this year'

Max Verstappen won his first world title last week in spectacular fashion. During the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix he overtook Lewis Hamilton on the last lap, leaving the Dutchman on top. Flavio Briatore enjoyed the last race.
The former Benetton and Renault team boss was on the edge of his seat when race control decided to allow a lap after Nicholas Latifi's crash and the arrival of the safety car. When Verstappen finally got past his rival, the season was complete for Briatore.
Briatore acknowledges that Verstappen had a lot of luck in the last race. "Everything went well for Verstappen, but he deserved to win this year," he stressed in an interview with Adnkronos.com. "It was a great final that will go down in the history of Formula 1."
Anger at Mercedes still present
Mercedes was less content with the choice of the stewards to drive another lap without the safety car. According to the German team, the stewards acted wrongly and Hamilton, therefore, missed out on his eighth world title. Toto Wolff has announced that his team will no longer appeal. It ensures that the world title of Verstappen is certain.
