Perez puts full focus on championship: "We have nothing to lose"
- GPblog.com
Sergio Perez has made his first metres on the Jeddah Corniche circuit for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, albeit in the simulator. The Mexican is expecting a big challenge from the fast circuit. There is no room for error and not only because the walls are so close; Mercedes is only a few points ahead.
Jeddah Corniche is fast as hell
The Red Bull Racing driver is keen on good results for the final two races. Perez is just thirteen points behind Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas. If Perez can snatch third place from Bottas it will also mean a good run in the Constructors' Championship. In the Red Bull press statement, the team's number two looks ahead to the conclusion of this F1 season.
"It looks like a very fast circuit, so I'm looking forward to driving on the track in real life. I don't think I've ever driven on such a fast circuit with so many high-speed corners. It's going to be quite a challenge."Because the track is new for everyone, the practice sessions are very important. Not just for the drivers, but perhaps more importantly for the teams and finding the right set-up to challenge each other.
Red Bull has nothing to lose
In Qatar, Max Verstappen's teammate scored important points for the team with his P4, although it could have been more. "Those points in Qatar and the last three races were very important for the championship. We were able to close the gap to Mercedes. Now it's time to go for it. We have nothing to lose, and we will do our best. With two perfect races as a team, I'm sure we can be on top."
